ORGANIC WINE SUPPLIERS' BANQUET - Tuesday 24 March 2009 - presented by Vintage Roots, the organic wine specialists. Speakers included Jean Sebastian Fleury (the son) of Champagne Fleury, the first grower in Champagne to turn organic then biodynamic in 1989; Labid Ameri (Export Manager and son-in-law of the owner) of Jean Bousquet Estate, Argentina; and Josep Jove (International Export Manager) of Albet I Noya, the first winemaker in Spain to adopt organic practices in the vineyard.

4 March 2009 - Alan Barker, Chairman of the Merseyside Committee, raised £4000 in a charity evening at the Yuet Ben, which included shaving off his beloved moustache (after having it for 35 years!).
